Maybe it’s not something you’re thinking about right now. But spring is a great time to do some detoxing. It will cleanse your body, allowing your (Wood) energy to flow more freely, which will benefit your organs and thus your health. You will feel refreshed and revitalized in no time!
When you hear ‘detox’ you might be thinking of a week on juices and soups.
But it doesn’t have to be like that at all!
An average person with a job and a family will have a hard time functioning on that.
That’s why I have a few easy to do tips for you that will get you a long way:

Tip 1: Go to sleep on time
The peak time for Wood Energy is from 11 pm to 3 am. During this time, the energy turns inwards to clean and refresh the blood and organs. In order for this to work smoothly, it is important that your eyes are closed. As soon as the eyes are open, the energy returns to the surface and the cleansing process is interrupted. So it is best to go to sleep before eleven o’clock in the evening.
Tip 2: Drink plenty of water
In order to eliminate the toxins, it is important that you hydrate. Warm or lukewarm water is perfect for this. Preferably purified water. Cold water is never a good idea, because it immediately inhibits your Earth energy.
Tip 3: Lemon
A perfect way to start your day is by having a glass of lukewarm water with the juice of half a lemon or lime in it. The Chinese call this ‘the internal shower’, because it immediately stimulates your body to dispose of the toxins loosened up during the night. Do you find it too sour to start your day with? Then add a little stevia or honey to your taste.
Tip 4: Conscious breathing
Breathing not only provides you with oxygen, but also frees up toxins. Therefore, teach yourself to take deep breaths, in and out, three to five times a day, very consciously. A good pace of breathing would be to breathe in for four counts, hold it for a moment and then breathe out in eight counts. Do this at least three times in a row, while thinking on every exhale ‘I release all the toxins.’.
Tip 5: Sweating
Your skin is the largest organ of your body and it plays an important role in the elimination of toxins. You can help your skin by sweating on a regular basis by using the sauna, infrared sauna or steam room. Be sure to drink plenty of water afterwards.
Tip 6: Dry brushing
In line with tip 5, I can also highly recommend dry brushing your skin. Use a soft brush and always brush in large strokes towards your heart. It’s the perfect cleaning exercise before you take a shower.
Tip 7: Avoid toxins
Of course, there is no point in detoxing if you keep overloading your system with toxins. So be more conscious of what you’re eating and drinking. Read the labels and choose natural foods without additives. The rule ‘if grandma doesn’t know it, you shouldn’t eat it’ is a very good one. Also consider natural skin care and cleaning products without chemical additives. Your liver will thank you for that.
Tip 8: Veggies
You’ll see this tip often in my articles because it is so very important. Eat plenty of vegetables. Preferably 200 grams twice a day. Green vegetables such as kale, spinach, chicory, turnip greens, rocket slaw, pak choy and parsley are very healthy. But also vegetables of the brassica family are perfect for eliminating toxins, such as: white and green cabbage, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, kale and turnip.
Tip 9: Stretching
The Wood Element governs the ligaments. That’s why it is good to do some stretching exercises when your detoxing.
Tip 10: Cleanse your energy field
Just as a shower cleanse your body on the outside, the next exercise will wash your energy field clean. So you can do both at the same time.
The exercise:
While you’re in the shower, close your eyes. Feel the water pouring over you, caressing your skin. Watch the water run down the drain, carrying all the dirt. Now imagine that the water also flows through you and washes away all the dirt on the inside. In your mind, imagine all the parts of your body being rinsed clean: your head, your arms, your torso and your legs. And feel how that refreshes you, inside and out. As you dry yourself off, imagine you’re standing under a bright light. This bright light dries you and warms you up inside and out. You feel reborn again.
